Overall a very nice copy. 27cm x 21.5cm. [14], xxxii, [2], 1112 pages. Claudius Claudianus, commonly known as Claudian, was a Latin poet who lived approximately from 370 to 404 AD. Born in Alexandria, Egypt, he was a Greek speaker with a strong knowledge of Latin literature. He is renowned as one of the last major poets of pagan Rome and served as a court poet during the reign of Emperor Honorius in Milan, closely associated with the general Stilicho. .
