First edition. The first two full years of this journal, each with 24 pages of text and 36 full page plates. (so a total of 72 plates). There are no title pages bound in, but these are for the years 1851 and 1852. Half leather contemporary binding, with gilt titles to the spine. Buckram boards. A little rubbing, but overall in good strong condition. Calligraphic owner's name and date to the front end paper. The first page of each issue has the title to the top, but no separate title. The plates are a mix of black and white illustrations for the student to copy, and finished chromo-lithographs and sepia plates. Some have light to moderate foxing to them, but most are fairly clean. pagination [ii], pages 1-24., plates 1-36. pages 1-24, plates 37-72. Complete. There are a variety of sizes of this sort of book. This is the largest format at 32cm x 24.5cm. Conforms to WorldCat / OCLC: 493861677. Artists include Victor Adam, Josephine Ducollet, Hubert, and others. .
