This is a rare part of the "Encyclopédie portative", a series of pocket-sized books under the direction of C. Bailly de Merlieux. The plate section has its own pagination, title and half title. The work deals with annelids (plates I-VIII), crustaceans (plates IX-XXXVII), Arachnida (plates XXXVIII-XLV) and Myriapoda (plates XLVI-XLVIII). Bookblock of the text part split, covers soiled, printed paper cover of spines partly perished, some text pages a bit spotted, plates mostly clean. Nissen ZBI, 474. Rare.
