Parme Editions Artegrafica Silva 1986 Très bel exemplaire de ce catalogue raisonné à tirage limité et à plusieurs éditions. Exemplaire 779/3000 (numéroté au colophon au dos). Cet exemplaire est accompagné de la lithographie en couleurs signée "L'angoisse" (n° 59/185 de la lithographie). Dessinée à la sanguine, au crayon noir et à la mine de plomb, cette lithographie est produite sur du papier d'art de haute qualité et se trouve dans sa propre pochette. Le livre est également signé et dédicacé sur la page de garde à Jacques et Ghislaine Berniere, daté de Riyad 1990. Bernière a été ambassadeur de France en Arabie Saoudite de 1986 à 1991 (y compris pendant la guerre du Golfe) et plus tard ambassadeur en Belgique. Les visites de Vicari en Arabie Saoudite sont bien documentées et photographiées dans le catalogue. Il y a également une carte de menu française datée du même jour (probablement de l'ambassade) montrant le menu du dîner. Au verso, Vicari a dessiné un croquis de certains participants et l'a signé. Le livre est en tissu noir, avec des titres dorés et une image en couleur de Vicari collée sur la première page. Il est en bon état, propre et sain. Le livre se trouve dans un étui noir. La couverture est légèrement frottée et marquée, mais reste attrayante. 310 pages. Andrew Vicari était un portraitiste gallois qui est devenu le portraitiste officiel de la famille royale saoudienne (où trois musées sont consacrés à son travail). A very nice copy of this limited edition Catalogue Raisonne with several editions. Copy 779/3000 (numbered to colophon at the rear). This copy comes with the signed coloured lithograph "L'angoisse" (#59/185 of the lithograph) Drawn in sanguine, black crayon and lead pencil, this is produced on high quality art paper and is in its own folder. The book is also signed and dedicated to the front end paper to Jacques and Ghislaine Berniere, dated Riyad 1990. Berniere was the French ambassador to Saudi Arabia from 1986-1991 (including throughout the Gulf War) and was later the ambassador to Belgium. Vicari's visits to Saudi Arabia are well documented and photographed in the catalogue. In addition there is a French menu card dated the same day (Presumably from the embassy) showing the dinner menu. To the verso, Vicari has drawn a sketch of some of the attendees, and signed this. The book is black cloth, with gilt titles and a colour picture by Vicari tipped onto the front board. In good, clean, sound condition. The book is held within a black clamshell case. There is a little rubbing and marking to the cover, but still attractive. 310 pages. Andrew Vicari was a Welsh portrait painter, who became the official portrait artist of the Saudi Royal Family (where there are three museums dedicated to his work.) Italy Skinnerboox 2019 Un bel exemplaire de ce livre de photos en édition limitée. Imprimé à seulement 500 exemplaires. La couverture souple est entièrement sur papier noir avec impression en argent du texte et certaines photographies sont imprimées en argent sur le papier noir également. La seconde moitié du livre (28 pages) est essentiellement constituée de papier blanc, avec des photographies en couleur et en noir et blanc imprimées sur la plupart des pages (quelques-unes sont des pages blanches). Les deux dernières pages sont un essai sur "l'archéologie du futur". Le livre est accompagné d'un autre document, de même longueur, sur papier (sans couverture rigide). Il contient le texte qui accompagne chaque image (quelques lignes seulement par page). Le thème de l'ouvrage est principalement de nature industrielle et scientifique. Les deux livres sont en excellent état, propres et brillants, sans aucun défaut. 300 x 240 mm (11Ÿ x 9œ pouces).

A beautiful copy of this limited edition photo book. Printed in only 500 copies. The softback is entirely on black paper with silver printing of text and some of the photographs are printed in silver on the black paper also. The second half of the book (28 pages) is mostly white paper, with colour and black and white photographs printed on most pages (a few are blank pages). The last two pages are an essay on "the archaeology of the future," Accompanying the book, is another document, the same length, on paper (without a stiff cover). This contains the text to accompany each image (so only a couple of lines per page). The theme of the work is predominantly industrial and scientific in nature. Both of the books are in excellent, clean and bright condition, with no flaws. 300 by 240mm (11Ÿ by 9œ inches). .

Taking its name from the two leading figures of the Bergevin family, Louis-Athanase Bergevin (1753-1832) and his son Louis-Catherine (1798-1876), were magistrates from Blois and major landowners in Saint-Gervais-la-Forêt. The collection was dispersed at auction in Véndome in 2022.

Paris S.P. C 1913 Première édition. Un album original unique contenant 32 illustrations en couleur réalisées par ce caricaturiste de talent. Il comprend également cinq croquis au crayon. Ce portfolio fait main présente un croquis à l'encre avec le titre sur la couverture. Les feuilles sont reliées de manière lâche à l'aide d'un ruban ; ainsi, bien qu'elles soient solidement maintenues, elles peuvent se déplacer librement. Les pages ont des dimensions légèrement différentes. Certaines comportent des caricatures en couleur peintes directement dessus, d'autres des peintures découpées et collées. Certaines ont été simplement collées. Les illustrations sont de tailles variées et représentent parfois différentes esquisses d'un même sujet. Une ravissante collection. Du militaire à cheval sur une double page aux pianistes, en passant par Pierrot qui observe la scène. La plupart des sujets sont des musiciens, des chanteurs ou des pianistes (dont deux qui sont probablement Camille Saint-Saëns, le célèbre pianiste qui a donné son concert d'adieu en 1913). Plusieurs autres musiciens et personnages de music-hall ont également été identifiés et leurs noms sont inscrits au crayon dans l'album. Mais on y trouve aussi un portrait d'Anatole France (la seule image où le sujet est nommé par l'artiste), ainsi que quelques juges. Le style de l'artiste, en particulier l'allongement exagéré des membres, le trait d'encre assuré avec des lavis d'aquarelle sélectifs, et les poses de profil, rappelle fortement celui de contemporains tels que Sem ou Capy. Bon nombre de ces images sont datées entre 1908 et 1913. 33 cm x 26 cm.

First edition. A unique original album of 32 coloured artworks by this skilled caricaturist. There are also five pencil sketches included. A hand made portfolio, has an ink sketch with the title to the front board. The leaves are loosely bound into the portfolio with a ribbon, so although held securely, they move loosely. Different pages are of slightly different size. Some have colour caricatures painted up them, others have trimmed paintings glued down. Some have been loosely tipped in. The illustrations are of varying size, and are sometimes varying sketches of the same subject. A lovely collection. From the double page military man on his horse, to pianists, to Pierrot watching on. Most of the subjects are musicians, singers or pianists (including two that are probably Camille Saint-Saëns, the celebrated pianist who gave his farewell concert in 1913). Several of the other musicians and music hall characters have also been identified and their names are pencilled into the album. But there is also a portrait of Anatole France (the only picture with the subject named by the artist), and some of judges. The style of the artist, particularly the exaggerated limb elongation, the confident ink line with selective water colour wash, and the profile poses, is very reminiscent of contemporaries like Sem or Capy. Many of the images are dated between 1908 and 1913. 33cm x 26cm. .

A La Haye Henri Scheurleer 1734 Première édition. (Première édition imprimée aux Pays-Bas la même année que la publication de Rollins). Un ensemble attrayant de quatre volumes, en plein cuir avec d'abondantes décorations dorées au dos. Les étiquettes de titre et de volume figurent au dos. Les planches sont en bon état mais avec quelques frottements et pertes à certains endroits. Papiers de fin marbrés. L'intérieur des quatre volumes est en excellent état de propreté. Chaque volume porte le nom de Jean-Frédéric de Montmollin (1740-1812). Il était un éminent homme d'état, industriel et dirigeant communautaire de Neuchâtel, en Suisse. Cette édition est dédiée au Prince d'Orange. Elle est complète d'un bel arbre généalogique dépliant et d'une carte dépliante de l'Espagne par I.B. Nolin. Le titre complet était traditionnellement connu sous le nom d'"Histoire des révolutions d'Espagne depuis la destruction de l'empire des Goths jusqu'à la réunification complète et parfaite des royaumes". L'uvre du père d'Orléans est exactement incluse dans les premier, deuxième et troisième volumes jusqu'à la page 139. Le reste du troisième volume jusqu'à la page 85 du quatrième est de feu le Père Brumoy. First edition thus. (First edition printed in the Netherlands in the same year as the Rollins publication). An attractive four volume set, in full leather with profuse gilt decorations to the spine. Title and volume labels to the spine. The boards are in sound condition but with a little rubbing and loss to some parts. Marbled end papers. Internally, the four volumes are in excellent clean condition. Bears the name in each volume of Jean-Frédéric de Montmollin (17401812). He was a prominent statesman, industrialist, and community leader from Neuchâtel, Switzerland. This edition is dedicated to the Prince of Orange. Complete with an attractive folding pictorial family tree and folding map of Spain by I.B. Nolin. It's full title was traditionally known as 'History of the Revolutions of Spain from the Destruction of the Empire of the Goths to the Complete and Perfect Reunification of the Kingdoms.' 'The work of Fr. d'Orleans is exactly included in the first, second and third volumes up to page 139. The rest of the third volume up to page 85 of the fourth is by the late Fr. London R. Ackermann 1828 Un bel exemplaire de cette première édition dans la toile d'origine de l'éditeur estampillée à l'aveugle en orange. La reliure est propre, les coins sont un peu abîmés. La dorure du dos est brillante, mais un peu frottée sur l'image de Tom lui-même. Il y a une petite entaille / perte à la tête du dos, et une petite éclaboussure d'eau ( ?) sur la planche avant, autrement excellent. L'intérieur du livre est en très bon état, avec un peu de noircissement sur les bords des pages seulement. Quelques petites rousseurs. Les lithographies colorées à la main sont en excellent état. Donné à la nation à la mort de sa femme en 1973, il a ensuite été acquis par Donald Trump et s'est avéré temporairement utile pour stocker des secrets d'État (prétendument).

A lovely copy of this first edition in the original orange blind stamped publisher's cloth. Binding is clean,, with a little bumping to the corners. Gilt to the spine is bright, but a little rubbed to the image of Tom himself. There is a small nick / loss to the head of the spine, and a small splash of water (?) damage to the front board, otherwise excellent. Owner's bookplate to the inside front board for Edward Francis Hutton.* Internally the book is in very good condition, with a little darkening to the page edges only. A few minor foxing spots. The hand coloured lithographs are in excellent condition. There is an interesting 10 page catalogue for Ackermann books to the rear (no other copies available seem to have this). He was passionate about yachts, and one figures prominently on his bookplate. Of interest today, he built the 127 room Mar-a-lago as a winter residence in 1927. Donated to the nation on his wife's death in 1973, it was later acquired by Donald Trump, and proved temporarily useful for storing state secrets (allegedly). .

Elle a été publiée en 12 parties entre 1807 et 1811. Cette partie a été imprimée en 1808. Non reliée, comme lors de sa publication initiale. Elle était destinée à être rassemblée, mais chaque partie est complète en soi. L'auteur raconte plusieurs contes moraux qui dépeignent la vie à l'envers ! C'était en effet le cas pour les Portugais à cette époque. La France, sous Napoléon, exigeait que le Portugal cesse tout commerce avec la Grande-Bretagne et rejoigne le système continental ; lorsque le Portugal a tardé à le faire, le général Junot a envahi le pays le 19 novembre 1807, avec le soutien de l'Espagne conformément au traité de Fontainebleau, occupant Lisbonne le 30 novembre alors que la famille royale portugaise s'enfuyait au Brésil. Plusieurs éléments de cet ouvrage sont rédigés sous forme de « lettres à un ami ». Bien qu'il ne précise pas qui est cet ami, il le désigne par « vos majestés ». Il fait également référence au « Boqueirao do Caes do Sodre », un jardin public récemment restauré à Rio de Janeiro (où se trouvait la famille royale). First edition. A rare satirical publication, produced anonymously, but by Da Costa. In Portuguese. This was published in 12 parts between 1807 and 1811. This part was printed in 1808. Disbound / unbound, as initially published. It was intended to be gathered together, but each part is complete in itself. The author tells several moral tales, which portray life upside down! It was indeed for the Portuguese at this time. France, under Napoleon, demanded Portugal halt trade with Britain and join the Continental System; when Portugal delayed, General Junot invaded on November 19, 1807, with Spanish support as per the Treaty of Fontainebleau, occupying Lisbon by November 30 as the Portuguese royal family fled to Brazil. Several of the items in this work are written as "letters to a friend." Although it doesn't say who the friend is, he refers to them as "your majesties." There are also references to "Boqueirao do Caes do Sodre" a recently restored public garden in Rio de Janeiro (where the Royal Family were). The last leaf has a verse riddle, the answer to which will be given in a later issue. There is a manuscript answer to the riddle on the page. The tone of the work is Anti-French, referring to them as "our cruel protectors." The colophon is to the last leaf, which as well as publisher and date, states that the work is printed with the permission of the Royal Court. 32 pages. 22cm x 16cm. The whole work (12 parts) is referenced in WorldCat / OCLC: 613411936 which states only one library holding. In good, clean condition with a touch of edge wear only. Sewn binding is firm. A touch of darkening to the front cover. .

Il suggère avec ironie que le retard dans la publication de cette partie était dû au fait que Napoléon lui avait demandé de retarder sa publication jusqu'après ses secondes noces. Plusieurs paragraphes sont consacrés à une correspondance fictive avec Joséphine. Démonté / non relié, comme lors de sa publication initiale. Il était prévu de rassembler les parties, mais chacune d'entre elles est complète en soi. L'auteur raconte plusieurs contes moraux qui dépeignent la vie à l'envers ! C'était en effet le cas pour les Portugais à cette époque. La France, sous Napoléon, exigeait que le Portugal cesse tout commerce avec la Grande-Bretagne et rejoigne le système continental ; lorsque le Portugal a tardé à le faire, le général Junot a envahi le pays le 19 novembre 1807, avec le soutien de l'Espagne conformément au traité de Fontainebleau, occupant Lisbonne le 30 novembre alors que la famille royale portugaise s'enfuyait au Brésil. First edition. A rare satirical publication, produced anonymously, but by Da Costa. In Portuguese. This was published in 12 parts between 1807 and 1811. This final part was printed in 1811. He mockingly suggests that the delay in publishing this part, was because Napoleon asked him to delay its publication until after his second nuptials. There are several paragraphs devoted to a fictitious correspondence with Josephine. Disbound / unbound, as initially published. It was intended to be gathered together, but each part is complete in itself. The author tells several moral tales, which portray life upside down! It was indeed for the Portuguese at this time. France, under Napoleon, demanded Portugal halt trade with Britain and join the Continental System; when Portugal delayed, General Junot invaded on November 19, 1807, with Spanish support as per the Treaty of Fontainebleau, occupying Lisbon by November 30 as the Portuguese royal family fled to Brazil. There are several pages of poetry here, including "Contenda. Da Rosa com a Violeta". This is a poetic rivalry or "contenda" (strife) between a rose and a violet, the rose appears to be the French empire. The last leaf has a verse riddle, the answer to which will be given in a later issue. There is a manuscript answer to the riddle on the page. The tone of the work is Anti-French, referring to them as "our cruel protectors." The colophon is to the last leaf, which as well as publisher and date, states that the work is printed with the permission of the Royal Court. 32 pages. 22cm x 16cm. An attractive engraving of the Arc de Triomphe by Aimé Edmond Dallemagne (1882-1971). French water colourist and engraver. This is focussing on the tomb of the unknown soldier, and shows a group of mourners in front of it. It is signed in pencil by Dallemagne, and numbered 12/200.
