La couverture est frottée et décolorée. À l'intérieur, quelques légères rousseurs. Les pages sont en bon état, sans déchirures ni plis. XXXII pages de texte, suivies de [31] feuilles de planches : illustrations en noir et blanc, cartes dépliantes et plans. Complet. Barbie du Bocage fait référence à Jean-Denis Barbié du Bocage (1760-1825), géographe et cartographe français de renom. Il fut l'élève du célèbre géographe Jean-Baptiste Bourguignon d'Anville et travailla longuement à Paris. Jean-Denis Barbié du Bocage a occupé des fonctions importantes, notamment celle d'attaché au ministère des Affaires étrangères, puis au Cabinet des médailles de la Bibliothèque du Roi. Il a contribué aux connaissances géographiques et cartographiques à la fin du XVIIIe et au début du XIXe siècle, en créant des cartes telles que celles du « Voyage du jeune Anacharsis ». Pages in a good state, no tears or creases. XXXII pages of text, followed by [31] Sheets of plates: b/w illustrations, fold out maps, and plans. Complete. Barbie du Bocage refers to Jean-Denis Barbié du Bocage (17601825), a notable French geographer and cartographer. He was a student of the famous geographer Jean-Baptiste Bourguignon d'Anville and worked extensively in Paris. Jean-Denis Barbié du Bocage held important roles including as attaché to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and later in the Cabinet of Medals at the King's Library. He contributed to geographic and cartographic knowledge during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, creating maps such as those for the "Voyage du jeune Anacharsis." Paris F. Champenois 1912 Première édition. Affiche publicitaire lithographique originale de Lefèvre-Utile signée dans la planche par Victor Bocchino de 1912. L'affiche est collée sur un support et est maintenue sous un passe-partout amovible. Lorsqu'on l'examine hors du cadre, on constate une perte importante sur le bord droit de l'affiche. L'encadreur a réussi à masquer cette perte en couvrant une partie de la marge de l'affiche. L'affiche est placée dans un cadre récent en bois à motifs. Il n'y a pas de verre (actuellement protégé par de l'acétate d'archivage). L'affiche peut être expédiée sans cadre si vous le souhaitez. L'affiche est par ailleurs propre et brillante, avec seulement quelques taches. Une pièce attrayante de la publicité du début du vingtième siècle. L'affiche mesure 70cm x 52cm. Le cadre mesure 95 cm x 75 cm. Imprimée par F. Champenois à Paris. Lu reste l'une des marques de biscuits les plus populaires en France aujourd'hui.

First edition. An original lithographic advertising poster from Lefèvre-Utile signed in the plate by Victor Bocchino from 1912. This is pasted down onto backing board and is held under a removable passe partout. When examined out of the frame, it is clear that there is significant loss to the right edge of the poster. The framer has managed to hide this by covering part of the margin of the poster. (See photographs). Held in a recent wooden patterned frame. There is no glass (currently protected with archival acetate). can be shipped without frame if preferred. The poster is otherwise clean and bright, with a touch of spotting to it only. An attractive piece of early twentieth century advertising. advert is 70cm x 52cm. The frame is 95cm x 75cm. Printed by F. Champenois of Paris. Lu remains one of the most popular biscuit brands in France today. .

An attractive two layer glass painting of The Madonna and Child, after Bodenhausen's infamous 'Eine Vision'. Cuno von Bodenhausen (1852-1931). The shaped glass (slightly convex) has been painted in two layers to the rear. Signed in plate to lower right. The two layers of painted glass together give a depth to the image. A few lights scratches to the paint surface, but still attractive. It seems that this was once in a frame, as the edges are unfinished. 270 x 180 mm (10Ÿ x 7 inches).

The binding has been repaired at some point with a green buckram back strip and corners. A professional repair. New end papers. Slight nicking to the original edges of the binding and slight marking but an attractive copy. Internally in good, firm condition. A little darkening / marking to the page edges. Il s'agit du premier roman de Boer, un portrait fascinant de la vie autour de la grande Exposition universelle de Paris. Des gens de tous les pays se rencontrent, se construisent des illusions, puis disparaissent à nouveau un mélange hétéroclite de bonheur éphémère et de souffrances douloureuses. Au centre se dresse la figure de l'ancien gouverneur Weitinger, un idéaliste qui considère cette exposition comme un nouvel ordre mondial, mais qui doit admettre par la suite que son désir et son idéalisme ont échoué. This is the first novel by Boer, a fascinating portrayal of life surrounding the great Paris World's Fair. People from all countries meet, build their illusions, and disappear again - a motley mix of fleeting happiness and painful suffering. At the centre stands the figure of former Governor Weitinger, an idealist who views this exhibition as if it were a new world order, yet who must admit afterwards that his desire and idealism have failed. Le seul défaut de cet exemplaire est l'absence de l'étui final. (Nous avons inclus les parties cassées de l'étui, qui pourraient être reconstruites - mais il est préférable de décrire cet exemplaire comme étant dépourvu d'étui) ! La chemise est propre et bien rangée, avec des titres gaufrés au dos. Pas d'usure significative. A l'intérieur, les deux volumes. Le premier, "La Voie Libre". Cet exemplaire est l'un des 339 exemplaires sur vélin de Lana sur une limitation totale de 500 exemplaires). Signature du propriétaire sur la première page de garde. Le premier volume comprend 12 planches lithographiées à pleine page. Le deuxième volume est le "Croquis de Route" qui comprend les 41 lithographies pleine page en noir et blanc et en couleur. First edition thus. A very nice, clean copy of this numbered, limited edition illustrated work. Two volumes in stiff card folder. The only flaw with this copy is that it lacks the final slipcase. (We have included the broken parts of the slipcase, which could be rebuilt - but it is best to describe this copy as lacking slipcase)! Folder is clean and tidy, with embossed titles to the spine. No significant wear. Inside, the two volumes. First "La Voie Libre." This includes the text, titles and limitations (This copy is one of the 339 copies on vélin de Lana from a total limitation of 500 copies.) Owner's signature to the front end paper. The fist volume includes 12 full page lithographed plates. Volume two is the "Croquis de Route" which is made up of the 41 black and white and coloured full page lithographs. Joliment relié à neuf dans une reliure d'époque simple, trois-quarts cuir, avec des plats en toile verte et des titres dorés. Quelques légères traces d'usure sur les bords du dos, mais la reliure est solide. Les couvertures souples roses d'origine (ornées d'une vignette représentant un singe en haut) ont été intégrées à la reliure. Elles sont en parfait état, ayant été protégées par la reliure en cuir. Après une préface de quinze pages de Mac Orlan, viennent les 25 gravures sur bois. Chacune est imprimée au recto uniquement en vert, noir et blanc, avec un court texte en dessous. First edition. Numbered edition. One of the 425 examples on vélin pur fil lafuma. Nicely rebound in a simple period three quarter leather binding with green cloth boards and gilt titles. A little rubbing to the spine edges, but the binding is sound. The original pink soft covers (with a monkey vignette to the top) are bound in. These are immaculate as protected by the leather binding. Following a fifteen page preface by Mac Orlan, are the 25 wood cut designs. Each printed on the recto only in green, black and white with a short text beneath. A lovely example of this work. [iv], xvi pp., 24 ff. An original pencil / charcoal sketch by M. Bollion. We cannot identify who this artist is, but they are certainly a skilled artist. Drawn on white art paper. The image / paper is 600 x 445 mm (23œ x 17œ inches). The sketch has been mounted behind a grey passe partout - which has focused on an area of the sketch. The image size showing through the passe partout is 300 mm x 455 mm. This work is currently held within a wooden frame (glazed). The frame is a little tatty, but sound. The sketch is sold without the frame - but this can be included for an additional shipping cost.

Paris Le Petit Journal 1912 Première édition telle quelle. Numéro patriotique classique du Petit Journal, cet exemplaire réalisé par F.L./Bombled est daté de 1912 et illustre le renforcement des effectifs juste avant la Première Guerre mondiale. Il s'agit d'une carte de « corps d'armée » : la France y est divisée en régions militaires/zones de corps d'armée (numérotées en chiffres romains), avec les villes de garnison, les sièges administratifs et les légendes en rouge et noir. Elle comprend des cartes décoratives en encart (région parisienne, Algérie/Afrique du Nord, Corse) ainsi qu'un grand panneau d'illustration en couleur à droite représentant des troupes françaises (cuirassiers, zouaves/turcos en pantalon garance rouge, artillerie avec un canon, officiers de cavalerie, etc.) sous un dirigeable et un biplan, le regard tourné vers la frontière allemande (la mention « Allemagne » figure sur la carte sous le dirigeable). Le message est clair. Les Français sont prêts à affronter tout ce que les Allemands peuvent leur opposer. 900 × 620 mm (35œ × 24œ pouces). Dans l'ensemble, en très bon état, légèrement foncé. Légères traces d'usure sur les bords avec de minuscules déchirures fermées uniquement. Quelques très légères perforations aux endroits où la carte a été pliée. Un objet rare. Fortuné-Louis Bombled (18571935), illustrateur français prolifique ayant beaucoup travaillé pour *Le Petit Journal* et d'autres périodiques illustrés, connu pour ses images militaires, historiques et patriotiques.

First edition thus. A regular patriotic issue of le Petit Journal, this example by F.L/ Bombled is dated 1912 and shows the build up just before the first world war. It is a "corps d'armée" map: France divided by military regions/corps areas (numbered in Roman numerals), with garrison towns, government seats, and legends in red/black. It includes decorative inset maps (Paris region, Algeria/North Africa, Corsica) and a large colour illustration panel on the right showing French troops (cuirassiers, Zouaves/turcos in red pantalon garance, artillery with a cannon, cavalry officers etc.) beneath a dirigible airship and a biplane, gazing toward the German frontier ("Allemagne" is labeled on the map beneath the airship). The message is clear. The French are prepared for whatever the Germans can throw at them. 900 by 620mm (35œ by 24œ inches). Overall in very good, slightly darkened condition. A touch of light edgewear with tiny closed tears only. Some very slight holes where the map has been folded. A scarce item. Fortuné-Louis Bombled (18571935), a prolific French illustrator who worked extensively for Le Petit Journal and other illustrated periodicals, known for military, historical, and patriotic imagery. .

BONFILS, Robert.

Paris La Librairie Lutetia 1917 Première édition. Jolie chemise cartonnée avec une illustration de Bonfils sur la première page. Léger assombrissement du dos. Les attaches en soie sont présentes, mais tiennent à peine. Au dos, le papier s'est fissuré, laissant le tissu exposé. Le dos de la couverture crème est légèrement assombri. L'intérieur des planches est recouvert d'un papier de garde et de rabats colorés à la main. L'un des rabats est détaché et l'autre n'est qu'à moitié présent. Les 20 planches (dont 16 sont principalement des illustrations) sont en excellent état, avec juste un peu de noircissement sur le titre. Les planches sont magnifiquement réalisées en pochoir (technique de coloriage à la main). Un des 320 exemplaires seulement (celui-ci est l'un des 300 exemplaires sur papier vergé). Cette superbe suite de planches célébrant l'effort de guerre français dans les premières années de la Première Guerre mondiale a été réalisée par le designer Robert Bonfils, l'un des maîtres reconnus de l'Art déco. Chaque planche comporte des citations sur le bord inférieur. Complet, y compris la planche "L'Union Sacrée" représentant un prêtre et un ouvrier chargeant des obus. L'union célébrée était celle par laquelle la gauche pacifiste acceptait de ne pas s'opposer à la guerre. Le texte est fourni par l'écrivain naturaliste Descaves, rédacteur de l'Aurore pendant l'affaire Dreyfus. Ses activités politiques lui firent perdre son grade lors de son service militaire. First Edition. Attractive hardback folder with an illustration by Bonfils to the front board. Slight darkening to the spine. The silk ties are present, but only just holding. To the spine, the paper has cracked away, leaving the fabric exposed. A little darkening to the back cream cover. Inside the boards are covered with a hand coloured end paper design and flaps. One of the flaps is detached, and one only half present. The 20 plates (including 16 which are predominantly illustration) are in excellent condition, with just a touch of darkening to the title. Beautifully produced plates in Pochoir (a form of hand coloured stencil technique). One of 320 copies only (this one of the 300 examples on papier vergé). Featuring a superb suite of plates celebrating the French war effort in the early years of the First World War by the designer Robert Bonfils, one of the recognised masters of Art Deco. Each of the plates have quotations to the bottom edge. Complete, including the plate "L'Union Sacrée" showing a priest and a worker loading shells. Il s'agit à la fois de l'histoire d'un enfant mongol et d'un documentaire sur la vie en Mongolie, illustré tout au long par les belles photographies d'Ergy. Les photos sont en noir et blanc. L'intérieur est impeccable. Black and white throughout. Soft covers with red and black detail and photographs to front and rear cover. There is fractional bumping and fractional darkening to the covers. Internally spotless throughout. Ergy Landau (18961967) was a Hungarian-French photographer best known for her portraits, female nudes, advertising work, and dynamic images of inter war Paris. Despite significant contributions to 20th-century photography, her name remains less recognised than many of her male contemporaries such as Brassaï or Robert Capa. La gravure sur bois mesure 17 cm x 20 cm. Imprimée sur du papier fin chiné. Le papier mesure 48 cm x 33 cm. Signé par Bossert sous l'image. Le papier est un peu froissé, en particulier sur les bords, mais il s'agit dans l'ensemble d'une belle uvre. Otto Richard Bossert (1874-1919), également connu sous le nom de O. R. Bossert, était un portraitiste, professeur d'art et artiste graphique allemand. Parmi ses uvres figurent des portraits à l'eau-forte de personnages historiques et des gravures sur bois en couleur. Ses premières uvres ont été influencées par Max Klinger. Bossert est né à Heidelberg et a étudié à Karlsruhe, avant de s'installer à Leipzig. En 1904, il commence à enseigner à l'Académie des arts graphiques de Leipzig. En 1911, il passe un été en Normandie et en Bretagne, où il découvre l'art de Paul Cézanne. Printed on fine chine papier. Paper is 48cm x 33cm. Signed by Bossert below the image. A little creasing to the paper, particularly at the edges, but overall and attractive piece. Otto Richard Bossert (18741919), also known as O. R. Bossert, was a German portrait painter, art teacher and graphic artist. Among his works are portrait etchings of historical figures and color woodcuts. His early works were influenced by Max Klinger. Bossert was born in Heidelberg and studied in Karlsruhe, before settling in Leipzig. In 1904 he began teaching at the Leipzig Academy for the Graphic Arts. In 1911 he spent a summer in Normandy and Brittany, where he was introduced to the art of Paul Cézanne. Bossert was a winner of 1914 Villa Romana prize. He died in 1919 in Leipzig. (Wikipedia). .
