Magnifiques illustrations en couleur et en duo par l'auteur - y compris une demi-page de titre, et un frontispice intitulé 'Good Morning'. Un nom de propriétaire à l'encre datant de 1894 figure sur la première page de garde. La toile du dos est un peu décolorée et les planches sont un peu frottées et légèrement salies. Looks to be in unplayed perfect condition, but not tested. Cover is clean and tidy with a touch of bumping only. Health education in French. Small stamp to top of half title: Het Maarten-Maartens Huis. 249 pages. 160 x 105 mm (6Πx 4Πinches). Cecily was a British novelist, born to German Jewish parents. She published 45 novels, mostly about the Jewish experience in England and Germany; with subjects including Jewish family life, anti-Semitism, interfaith marriage, and suicide.

[Geneve or Lausanne] Antoine Chupin & François le Preux 1577 Reliure de l'époque en plein vélin avec titres encrés au dos, et le monogramme ('HL') et la couronne du vicomte de Henry Yelverton, 1er vicomte de Longueville (1664-1704) sur les plats avant et arrière. Le vélin est un peu assombri, mais il est en bon état. Médaillon gravé sur bois sur le titre avec les armoiries des 13 cantons et des 7 villes, second médaillon sur le feuillet 16 verso, montrant le serment des trois premiers confédérés (répété sur le dernier feuillet verso). Une feuille manuscrite, en anglais, expliquant l'ouvrage et nommant les cantons et les états figurant dans le médaillon, est insérée à la suite. 16 feuillets, 562 pages, 12 feuillets. Première édition française de l'ouvrage principal de Josias Simler (1530-1576), sa "Republica Helvetiorum". Jusqu'à la fin de l'ancienne Confédération, il s'agit de l'ouvrage de droit constitutionnel suisse le plus populaire, publié un an après la première édition latine à Zurich en 1576. La note manuscrite indique qu'il a été traduit par le juriste Innocent Gentillet (mort à Genève vers 1595). Il traite de l'ordre public, politique et social. Dans la première partie, Simler propose une histoire des confédérations, proche des chroniques de Stumpf et de Tschudi. La seconde partie est une présentation complète et vivante de la Confédération suisse à son époque. Complet. 15cm x 10cm. Henry Yelverton, 1er vicomte de Longueville (1664 -1704) hérita du titre de 15e baron Grey de Ruthin en 1679. Il soutint Guillaume d'Orange lors de son invasion en 1688 et fut créé vicomte de Longueville en 1690. Il amassa une importante bibliothèque qui resta dans sa famille jusqu'aux dispersions de la fin du XVIIIe siècle.

Contemporary full vellum binding with inked titles to the spine, and the monogram ('HL') and Viscount's coronet of Henry Yelverton, 1st Viscount de Longueville (1664-1704) to the front and rear boards. Vellum is a little darkened, but substantially sound. Woodcut medallion on title with the coat of arms of the 13 cantons and 7 cities, second medallion on leaf 16 verso, showing the oath of the first three confederates (repeated on last leaf verso). Loosely inserted is a hand written sheet, in English, explaining the work, and naming the cantons and states in the medallion. 16 leaves, 562 pp., 12 leaves. First French edition of Josias Simler's (1530-1576) main work, his "Republica Helvetiorum". Until the end of the old Confederation, it was the most popular book on Swiss constitutional law, published one year after the first Latin edition in Zurich in 1576. The handwritten note states that it was translated by the jurist Innocent Gentillet (died in Geneva around 1595). It deals with public, political, and social order. In the first part, Simler offers a history of the confederacies, similar to the chronicles of Stumpf and Tschudi. The second part is a complete and lively presentation of the Swiss Confederation during his own times. Complete. 15cm x 10cm. Henry Yelverton, 1st Viscount de Longueville (1664 -1704) inherited the title of 15th Baron Grey of Ruthin in 1679. À l'intérieur, deux doubles pages avec des instructions, quatre doubles pages finement colorées (modèles pour marionnettes à doigt), deux doubles pages avec des billets d'entrée amovibles, des affiches et un programme de la pièce, et enfin le texte d'une pièce en trois actes. Tout ce dont un enfant a besoin pour monter sa propre pièce. Dans l'ensemble, en excellent état. Les feuilles sont agrafées. Les trois agrafes sont quelque peu rouillées et la première page s'est détachée de l'agrafe inférieure. Sinon, excellent état. Le rabat droit / rideau a été déchiré à un moment donné et a été réparé avec du ruban adhésif d'archivage. Louis Simon (1911-1988), journaliste et écrivain français d'origine russe, était le rédacteur en chef du magazine Scouts de France. Il avait été membre des Comédiens Routiers. First edition. A lovely copy of this pop-up theatre for children. Contains a folding cover of theatre curtains. Inside, are two double leaves with instructions, four finely coloured double leaves (models for finger puppets), and two double leaves with removable admission tickets, posters and a programme for the play and finally the text for a play in three acts. Everything a child needs to put on their own play. Overall in excellent condition. The sheets are stapled into place. The three staples are somewhat rusty, and the first page has come away from the bottom staple. Otherwise excellent. The right hand flap / Curtain has been split at some point, and has been repaired with archival tape. Small bookshop stamp (?) to the first page hidden by the cover flaps. 31.5cm x 24cm. The book is in the series "Les albums préférés des jumeaux." Louis Simon (1911-1988), a French journalist and writer of Russian origin, was the editor-in-chief of the Scouts of France magazine. L'ouvrage est plié, non rogné (pour le texte), et les planches sont imprimées sur du papier Japon. Couverture souple. Présenté dans un étui rigide en carton. Dans l'ensemble, en excellent état, avec seulement quelques traces de noircissement et de plis sur le dos de la couverture. Le reste de l'ouvrage est en très bel état. Un recueil évocateur d'illustrations à l'aquarelle représentant les généraux et les soldats qui venaient de livrer la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Certains insignes d'unités y sont également reproduits, ainsi que quelques messages des généraux à la fin de la guerre (et, bien sûr, le message de De Gaulle du 18 juin 1940). 24 cm x 16 cm.

First edition. A nice copy of this collection of 70 water colours by Siss, accompanied by approximately 20 pages of text. The work is produced in folds, and is uncut (for the text) and the plates are produced on a Japon card. Soft wrapper. Held in a stiff card slipcase. Overall in excellent condition, with a touch of darkening and creasing to the spine of the wrapper only. The rest of the work is in beautiful condition. An evocative collection of water colour illustrations of the generals and men who had just fought the Second World War. Some of the badges of units are also reproduced, along with some of the messages from generals at the end of the war (and naturally de Gaulle's message from the 18th June 1940). 24cm x 16cm. .

Marseille Galerie David Pluskwa Art Contemporain 2016 Première édition. David Négri, également connu sous le nom de Skunkdog, est un artiste français d'art brut né à Marseille en 1968, dont les uvres représentent souvent des têtes « punk » et des robots colorés. Ce livre a été réalisé dans le cadre d'une exposition intitulée « Hors les murs » à la Galerie David Pluskwa Art Contemporain à Marseille. Le titre « Inflammable Material » s'inspire du premier album du groupe punk nord-irlandais Stiff Little Fingers, sorti en 1979. L'artiste a déclaré : « Je peins Marseille parce que je la connais, je connais ma ville, je m'y sens profondément immergé. Il n'est pas nécessaire d'être ailleurs pour créer, Marseille est beaucoup plus créative que Barcelone, Londres, Berlin ou Paris. C'est pourquoi elle est essentielle pour moi. » Grand livre broché de style portrait avec une jaquette dépliable. First edition. David Négri is also known as Skunkdog, a French born "art brut" artist born in Marseille in 1968, whose works often involve 'punk style' heads and colourful robots. This book was produced as part of an exhibition entitled 'Hors les murs' at the Galerie David Pluskwa Art Contemporain in Marseille. The title 'Inflammable Material' is inspired by the debut album of the Northern Irish punk band Stiff Little Fingers - which was released in 1979. The artist once said "I paint Marseille because I know it, I know my city, I am deeply immersed in it. You don't have to be anywhere else to create, Marseille is much more creative than Barcelona, London, Berlin or Paris. That's why it's essential for me." Large, portrait style softback book with a gate fold loose dust jacket. Laid loose, in a square cut-out to the dust jacket, is an original painting by the artist (on a square section of canvas). This is not signed - but assumed to be (and looks like) the artist's work. The book, the dust jacket, and the artwork are all in excellent shape. "L'un des rares récits contemporains relatifs à l'expédition Miranda". Le général Francesco Miranda a connu une carrière militaire fructueuse avant de décider de révolutionner l'Amérique du Sud. La croisade fut un désastre. Smith et deux de ses camarades s'échappèrent de la prison de Carthagène et furent sauvés en mer. Moses Smith était originaire de Huntington (né en 1785). La première édition a été publiée à Brooklyn en 1812. Les pages 19/20 sont endommagées dans la marge extérieure, ce qui affecte le texte. L'ouvrage est raturé et légèrement assombri. Porte la signature de Bushniell Benedict. Il figure dans la liste des souscripteurs. Smith and two comrades escaped from prison in Carthagena and were rescued at sea. Moses Smith was a native of Huntington (born 1785). First edition was published in Brooklyn in 1812. Pages 19/20 have damage to the outside margin, affecting text. Foxed and a little darkened. Bears the ownership signature of Bushniell Benedict. He is listed in the list of subscribers. Bushnell Benedict (17661842) was a prominent resident of Ballston (sometimes Ballstown), Saratoga County, New York. He is recorded as living in Ballston Spa in 1800 and was listed as a justice of the peace in Ballston in 1810. He was re-appointed 1812, 1815, 1818, 1821. First edition. An original poster from NME. Double sided. On one side is The Clash - a photo of the band taken by Pennie Smith in 1978. To the other side is Morrissey, photographed by Kevin Cummins in 1983, lying on the grass by a lake and looking surprisingly cheerful! The poster is 58cm x 41cm. It has been folded twice, and there are creases to the folds. Also a touch of edgewear to the edges of the poster. Overall in good, clean condition. .

Otto Snoek photographed the images presented here during six trips to Ukraine between 1989 - 1992. He documents a poor and desperate - but proud - country, in the latter years of communism, and records the people and places in a style which means that different things happen simultaneously in his photos. Fascinating.

Joliement encadrée sous un passe-partout blanc, dans un cadre en bois doré. Sous verre. L'affiche est en excellent état. Légère coloration sombre de la feuille et quelques petites taches de rousseur, mais l'affiche reste attrayante. Il s'agit d'un article de grande taille. La surface de l'affiche est de 50 cm x 31 cm. La taille du cadre est de 77 cm x 57 cm.

First edition. A large poster from the SPCK, extolling the virtues of books (particularly as they allow everyone to afford bibles). Attractively framed under a white passe partout, and in a gilt wooden frame. Under glass. The poster is in excellent condition. Slight darkening to the sheet, and a couple of small foxing spots, but still an attractive poster. It is a large item. The poster area is 50cm x 31cm. The frame size is 77cm x 57cm. .

Lyon Society for the Propogation of the Faith 1838

First edition. A single sheet, folded octavo, with 8 printed pages, uncut. This comprises two articles extracted from Annals of the Propagation of the Faith. One is a summary of the income and expenditure of the missions. An interesting summary - showing which of the missions and individuals received grants. The other, is a summary of the work of the missions, first published in the Dublin Review (no. 8). Overall, this is in a good condition. There is a touch of marking to the rear page only. Otherwise very clean and tidy.
