Probably written around 1788-1789 as the author refers to the upcoming meeting of the Three Estates (the only one held in the 18th century) and reminds the reader of the 'grande sechesse de l'été de 1785.' Advocates agriculture and the means to improve its results, and points to the devastating effects of the 'Dime'.

This is a revised and augmented second edition of this work defending "true religion" against the "various modern opinions." The work is structured in twenty chapters (Esistenza di Dio; Immortalita dell'anime, etc.) and each chapter is structered in the form of questions and answers.

Protesting against the exclusive right of the 'syndicat' of the 'agens de change' to present candidates for vacancies, the text urges to increase the number of 'agens the change' and suggests a term of three years for training for those who wish to become 'agent de change' and requests that they are able to present 'un certificat de bonne conduite' after these three years and be only allowed into the profession upon the approval of a jury formed by 'banquiers et négocians.'

According to the 'Avertissement', the work is based on material not used in the 1768-1778 edition of Lelong's Bibliothèque Historique, also published by Hérissant. Much material for that work was obtained through correspondance with 'des sociétés savantes' but Lelong did not use all of it. Quérard lists the work under Frevet de Fontette.

Very rare collection with all the supplements, but lacking the numbers 4,8,10,11,16,18,22 and 23 of the second series. 'Orientation idéologique: l'observateur est 'patriote', il se veut défenseur du peuple, 'moniteur incorruptible', et les auteurs des lettres qu'il publie le considérent comme tel. Il se spécialise dans la dénonciation précise, personelle, des 'aristocrates', des ennemis de la nation, des 'mauvais citoyens', il assure la publicité de toutes les lettres accusatrices. Mais il tient aussi à préserver l'ordre et la paix, et réfutant les calomnies, en avouant ses erreurs, et en rejetant les lettres 'dangereuses'' (Rétat).

First work: discussing the advantages and the necessity of an entrepot (or warehouse) in Paris. The 'petition' was made available at the office of the journal 'Le Pilote'. Second work: The Chamber of Commerce of Le Havre, filled with great expectations for its commerce and trade upon the start of the reign of Charles X, now expresses its great disappointment, doubts and anguish upon learning about the plans to establish an entrepot in Paris.Third work: discusses the loss of the French colonies since the French Revolution: Tabago, Sainte-Lucie, Isle-de-France, St. Domingue and the effects this has had on the position of France in comparison with England, discusses the different policy in England concerning import and export and the entrepot (both in finance and organization) and discusses the idea to establish an entrepot in Paris, something the author strongly rejects. The idea of an entrepot in Paris was one of the many ideas intended to re-vitalize the commerce and trade of France after the devastating Napoleonic wars. - Few marginal stains in the second piece.

Page 7-end contain 'Réclamations adressées à son Excellence Monseigneur le Ministre de l'Intérieur, contre les droits qui frappent les fers étrangers dans leur introduction en France'. Asking to withdraw the law of December 21, 1814, through which foreign iron became subject to heavy import duties. These in their turn provoked reactions from foreign countries in the form of heavy duties on export products from France and thus severely damaging French trade and commerce. In addition the law made the imported iron very expensive and this too damaged trade and commerce. The first piece has at the end a list of signatairies.

Dissertation sur les propriétés de l'Eglise de France, & sur les droits utiles & honoriques attachés aux fiefs de la Noblesse, dont l'orgine des unes & des austres est absolument la même. Contemporary supple vellum, damage to outer margin of rear cover (loss of vellum now showing a leaf with manuscript text between the cover and the paste-down), a bit spotted. Second edition, first published the previous year, by the same printer and with the same collation, of this collection of privileges, exemptions and immunities granted to (and often reconfirmed) the city of Lyon by various French kings, stressing the importance of the city and its strategic position close to Italy and Switzerland. Dedication to Monseigneur de Mandelot, dated 1573, second dedication to Messieurs les Consuls, Eschevins de la ville et communauté de Lyon, also dated 1573, title-page with small loss in blank outer upper margin, last leaf with small loss of paper in blank margin at foot of the page, verso last leaf with another printer's mark of A. Gryphius, page 116 contains errata.

Paris, Pagnerre, 1838. 3 works bound in 1 volume. 114, (2) pp.; 40 pp.; 112, (4) pp. 8vo. Modern half morocco, marbled boards, gilt lettering to spine "Procès Politiques de 1838." 1: Armand Laity was one of Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte's partners in the attempt to raise the garrison at Strasbourg in 1836. In 1838 he published an apologetic account of it and was almost immediately arrested by the government, sentenced to 5 years in prison and one franc fine for every copy printed, in all 10,000 francs.2: Le National was an important revolutionary and republican newspaper of the Restoration, the July Monarchy, and the Second Republic. It was founded by Adolphe Thiers, François-Auguste Mignet and Armand Carrel with the express purpose of overthrowing not merely the Polignac government but the Bourbon dynasty. Le National was among only four newspapers that continued publication despite the July Ordinances.3: Aloysius Huber was a socialist conspirator and member of secret societies during the July Monarchy, and a leader of political clubs during the Second Republic. He was influenced by the theories of the socialist Pierre Leroux and quite active during the 1830 Revolution. Disappointed by the results of the revolution, he joined the Society of the Rights of Man and was sentenced to five years in prison for complicity in the Neuilly plot. Freed by the amnesty of 1837, he left for London but soon returned to Paris and was again put in jail, this time for conspiracy to assassinate the king. - The original covers of the second and third work have been preserved. Nice clean copies.

The first volume deals with the session from 3 November upto 15 December 1790 and dealt with a great variety of subjects: population du département, sur l'agriculture, sur l'industrie, sur le commerce, sur les arts, sur les grands communications, sur les rivières, sur les routs, travaux publics, ateliers de charité, encouragemens et secours de bienfaisance, biens nationaux, contribution patriotique, etc., etc. Henri Picot Dampierre was the president of the Assembly.The second volume covers the session that was held from 15 November upto 14 December 1791: this session covered a great variety of subjects: Frais d'administration, dépense de l'ordre judiciaire de l'année 1791, frais du culte, pensions et secours accordés aux ecclésiastiques et communautés religieuses, dépenses relatives aux travaux des routes, aux travaux de charité, au bien public, à la mendicité, population du département, sur l'agriculture, sur l'industrie, sur le commerce, sur les arts, sur les grands communications, sur les rivières, sur les routs, travaux publics, ateliers de charité, encouragemens et secours de bienfaisance, biens nationaux, contribution patriotique, etc., etc.The first volume has the gilt stamped name of H.P. Dampierre in the center of both sides with above a gilt stamped fleuron with the text "La Nation, la Loi et le Roi", the second volume has the gilt stamped name of T. Cobin, Pr.
